“The WGS degree was a foundational part of my learning as a student and transition into the workforce. The program strengthened my critical thinking and empathetic listening skills, taught me to become comfortable with being wrong and find meaning in challenges, and inspired me to be an active participant in communities—bringing out the best in others and helping create the change needed for progress.”

Joanna McDonough ’17, who minored in Women’s and Gender Studies and also majored in Health Policy and Management with a double minor in Business Studies, earned a Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) from Mass General Brigham University of Health Professions. She is an Occupational Therapist and Rehabilitation Care Coordinator at CVHCare Home Health in San Francisco, where she develops individualized treatment plans, coordinates multidisciplinary care teams, and oversees quality, compliance, and care delivery operations.
